Director of Podravka Vegeta Marijan Domović talks to WRHL.info about great results of Podravka Vegeta and following match against Budućnost T-Mobile.
WRHL.info: Hypo, Budućnost, Krim and Podravka managed to enter CL's main round - amongst eight best teams of Europe. This makes WRHL the most successful league in Europe?
Marijan Domović: “I have to say that this is not some news for me. All four teams play important roles in European handball all the time. For sure, WRHL has helped us all a lot and I am convinced with playing in this league our clubs will continue to grow and to achieve even better results.“
WRHL.info: Budućnost signed new reinforcements recently: Croatian international goalkeeper Sanela Knezović and Serbian left winger Slađana Grozdanić. Is there any news in Podravka team regarding possible reinforcements?
Marijan Domović: “We decided at this point not to hire new players because we are satisfied with the team. New players could even disrupt stability of this team. But we do have many quality players interested to join us in next season, and we are working on that.”
WRHL.info: Budućnost comes to Koprivnica with many important players injured. Left back Jovanović, right wing Radičević, pivot Ambroš and defence player Kindl. It seems a Podravka Vegeta is a clear favourite on Saturdays match?
Marijan Domović: “Injuries happen in all sports, same is with handball. For sure missing these important players will affect a lot on their play, but I have to say that we also have problems with injuries. Kožnjak did not travel to Ljubljana, Tatari is still recuperating after an injury, Zebić is not on 100% and some other players have problems too.
I want to say clearly that despite injuries Budućnost T –Mobile is a great, young team with bright future ahead and they proved it already by entering top eight teams in Europe.”
WRHL.info: After achieving best results in CL in last 10 years, Croatian Champions have opportunity to win first WRHL title – if you win Budućnost and Hypo at home.
Marijan Domović: “Of course it feels great to win matches and trophies. But our imperative in these two matches will be to prepare as best we can for following CL matches. We did the same in Ljubljana. Coach Zovko gave opportunity to all our players; otherwise we would probably defeat Krim.
Match against Budućnost will be a great test for us to see what we really can do at this moment. Quality matches in WRHL are great for preparing the team for CL challenges. But nobody wants to lose and we always want to win.”
