New team in WRHL family has high goals in next season.
Women's handball club Zaječar was founded in 1955. Their brightest moment was in 1984 when KTK Zaječar qualified for first league. More details can be found on official web page http://rkzajecar.org.rs/.
Last season team of Dragan Markov ended on fifth position on Serbian Championship table. So, in season 2009/2010 Zaječar will compete in EHF's Challenge Cup. But the most important fact is clubs determination to build a powerful team. As a proof of that, club already signed contracts with high-profiled players:
Tatjana Medved – experienced captain of Serbian national team returning back to homeland after many trophies won with Kometal, Metz, Valencia, Ribarroja and Aarhus.
Barbara Varlec arrived from Krim Mercator. 21-year old talented right back of Slovenian national team is eager to prove her quality. WRHL and Challenge Cup will be great opportunity to do it.
Jovana Bartošić is 23-year old left wing of Serbian national team. In six years playing for Niš, Bartošić was one of the key figures of her team winning five trophies (Challenge Cup, Championship of Serbia and three Cups of Serbia).
Her team-mates, 20-year olds, back player Ivana Filipović and pivot Slađana Pop Lazić also transfer from Niš to Zaječar. Club is still negotiating with goalkeeper of Serbian national team Slađana Đerić and line player Verica Nikolić.
No doubt, with new reinforcements and with great handball fans "Amazonke" will be great challenge for all teams in WRHL.
